'GILDED TIDES'

A R T I S T S T A T E M E N T

Titled ‘GILDED TIDES’, this large-scale tapestry explores the artist’s transformation through motherhood and creative expression. Just as the ocean’s tides ebb and flow, she sheds her old skin, revealing a stronger, more vulnerable, and empowered version of herself. The rhythmic push and pull of the waves mirror the cycles of change—moments of release, surrender, and renewal. Weaving with intention rather than pressure became a grounding force, much like the steady pulse of the sea, helping her navigate postpartum anxiety and reconnect with her body and emotions.

Motherhood, particularly the birth of her second child, was profoundly transformative, uncovering resilience she never knew she had. Though endings felt heavy, they cleared the path for a lighter, brighter future—like the tide washing away remnants of the past, leaving space for new beginnings. The piece’s gold thread reflects motherhood’s weathering, much like sunlight catching the crests of waves, aging her with wisdom while adding character and strength.

The work demonstrates the artist’s journey to release the old, embrace a new identity, and find a balance between self-care and ambition. ‘GILDED TIDES’ celebrates the beauty of transformation, the inevitability of change, and the power of weaving a future aligned with her true self—one that rises and recedes, yet always returns stronger with the current.
